The AMLA has launched a public consultation on draft technical standards that introduce a common EU-wide format for reporting suspicious transactions and activities.

The proposed standards aim to replace the current fragmented reporting landscape with harmonised templates, making it easier for obliged entities operating across borders to meet their reporting obligations. While based on a common set of data points, the reporting format will remain flexible, allowing entities to submit only the information relevant to their sector and the type of suspicion being reported.

According to AMLA, the new approach will improve consistency for reporting entities while enabling FIUs to receive more structured and comparable information, supporting faster analysis and cross-border cooperation.

Stakeholders from the financial and non-financial sectors, national competent authorities and international organisations are invited to provide feedback. The consultation includes a public hearing on 9 September 2026, with responses helping to shape the final reporting standards.
