EU: Changes in PEP Status Due to Elections in Romania and Croatia

This month, elections in Romania and Croatia may impact the status of politically exposed persons (PEPs). Organisations subject to AML regulations should anticipate these changes in their AML compliance processes. 

Romania 

• Parliamentary elections took place on December 1.
• The second round of presidential elections is scheduled for December 8.

Croatia 

• Presidential elections are planned for December 29.
