The adoption of 115 non-essential Level 2 regulatory and implementing acts will be delayed until October 1, 2027, according to a statement released by the European Commission. These measures, which include technical standards and implementing rules, are designed to support primary legislation (Level 1), but have been flagged for contributing to regulatory complexity and high compliance costs.
The delay affects a wide range of areas, including AML. Among the postponed acts are rules concerning additional categories of politically exposed persons (PEPs) and high-risk corporate entities, and data collection procedures by the Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA).
