Compliance Counsel Spain (32-40 hours)

Are you based in the Netherlands and fluent in Spanish? Do you have a passion for compliance, client relationships and innovation? Do you want to work at a fast-growing software company that helps the legal sector comply with the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Act and play a key role in our expansion into Spain? This is your chance!

Who we are

RegLab is an innovative software company that supports law firms, notarial offices, and investment institutions with their complex anti-money laundering obligations. Our digital solution makes onboarding processes more efficient, helping our clients to be compliant so they can focus on their core business. We have ambitious plans to become the market leader in compliance software for the legal sector across the EU, and we're currently expanding into new markets, including Spain. Our office is located in Haarlem, right next to the train station.

Your role as Compliance Counsel Spain

As Compliance Counsel for Spain, you play a key role in growing RegLab's presence in the Spanish market and in our clients' success. You'll be part of both our Spanish country team and Compliance team. While the country team is based in Spain, you'll be based in our Haarlem office with the Compliance team, so you'll have a strong team around you from day one, both at the office and remotely. Spanish will be your main working language, and you are the expert who guides Spanish-speaking clients in complying with regulations such as the anti-money laundering legislation. You will:

  • Advise and support clients in implementing our software;
  • Support clients with the obligations arising from the anti-money laundering legislation;
  • Travel regularly to Spain to visit clients on-site, assess compliance processes, provide advice, and draft tailored policies;
  • Build strong relationships with Spanish law firms, notarial offices, and financial institutions, and act as their first point of contact;
  • Build and maintain your own network within the Spanish legal and compliance community;
  • Analyze client needs and translate them into improvements to our software and services;
  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimize the client experience.

In short, you are not just a compliance expert, but also a trusted advisor who helps our Spanish clients excel and a driving force behind RegLab's growth in Spain.

Who you are

We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with:

  • Master degree in Spanish law
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience at a trust office, financial institution, or legal advisory firm (such as a law firm or notarial practice), matching the scope and seniority of this role;
  • A strong affinity for compliance, regulation, and IT innovation;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  • A commercial mindset and a client-focused approach;
  • Fluency in Spanish, this will be your main working language;
  • Fluency in English;
  • Based in the Netherlands, with the flexibility to travel regularly to Spain for client visits.
  • You already have the right to work in the Netherlands (EU/EEA citizenship or a valid Dutch work/residence permit).

What we offer you

At RegLab, you get all the room to develop yourself and make a real impact. You can expect:

  • A great deal of freedom, ownership, and independence;
  • Excellent development opportunities, including training in compliance and IT;
  • The chance to work with leading clients, and to help shape our entry into the Spanish market;
  • Regular travel to Spain to visit clients and grow your own network;
  • An inclusive, dynamic work environment, with regular team drinks, lunches, and outings;
  • A modern workplace in a prime location in Haarlem.
